Work Experience Training

The Work Experience services provide increased exposure to work and post-secondary exploration and experiences in order to increase the numbers of students with disabilities who leave high school and/or postsecondary education to be prepared for the adult world. Ages 14 to 22 .

    Job Skills Training 

The Job Skills Training services teaches skills; · reinforces skills; and develops or sets up accommodations and/or compensatory techniques to increase the customer's independence and ability to meet the employer's expectations.

 Job Placement Services

The Job Placement services offer help preparing for, obtaining, retaining or advancing in your employment through the following individualized services.  Services are based on eligibility and your individual needs.

Services may be provided to help you prepare for, obtain, retain or advance in employment, including (as needed):

• Job Skills Training when Necessary 

• Training in Workplace and Employer Expectations

• Help Customers obtain a position that meets their needs

• Permanent, Not Temporary or Seasonal Jobs

• Resume and Application Training Services

• Interview Training Services

 P S A T

• Personal-Social Adjustment Training (PSAT) is a structured service designed to meet the unique needs of individuals and address a variety of vocational impediments. This service is specifically designed to address work-related behaviors that inhibit the individual's abilities to successfully maintain employment. The purpose of Personal and Social Adjustment Training is to address specific barriers to employment. Customized training and support services are provided to assist the needs of individuals with disabilities who require individualized support and training to address and remove barriers to employment. 

 Supported Employment Services

Supported Employment (SE) is a comprehensive service package for VR customers. SE enables customers with the most significant disabilities to enter competitive integrated employment by:

• Provide individualized assistance in finding an appropriate job match;

• providing ongoing support services; and

• establishing extended services, sometimes called long-term supports, for the customer to maintain a long-term competitive integrated employment outcome by:

  • identifying resources to deliver the extended services;

  • training extended services providers;

  • confirming that extended services are in place, if needed, to make sure the job is stable; and

  • ensuring all known needs are met before achievement of SE Benchmark 6, Service Closure.

By initially being paired with a job and subsequently receiving continuous assistance and training, the client cultivates job readiness while actively working. Employers who employ individuals through VR are anticipated to deliver equivalent training to VR clients as they would to other new hires, aided by support from both VR counselors and SE specialists.
