OUR STORY
Inspired by teenagers in the 1970s with disabilities who faced a future shaped by isolation, discrimination, and institutionalization. Camp Jened, a ramshackle camp “for the handicapped” (a term no longer used) in the Catskills, exploded those confines. Today, Kidd Camp Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit organization continues to amplify additional narratives in the disability rights and disability justice in their communities – with a particular emphasis on stories surrounding people of all color and other intersectional marginalized communities. We stand by their creed of "nothing about us, without us '. For too long, too many were excluded and are still being excluded and it is time to broaden the number of voices and share the mic.
WHO WE ARE
Our members are individuals with a variety of special needs including but not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, SLD, Paraplegia, Bipolar, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Hearing Loss , Speech Impediments and many others.
WHY WE EXIST
Our programs are meant to empower people with special needs to form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure jobs, improve communication ,advocacy and independent living skills

It's all about giving individuals with special needs a chance to shine and make their mark in our community. We host programs that encourage skill building, self-sufficiency, and vocational learning
We're all about creating opportunities for these amazing individuals to grow, connect sociably, and thrive. Whether it's through building friendships, forming partnerships, or lending a helping hand through volunteering, we're here to support them in their growth every step of the way.
Together, we can empower them to make a real difference in their own lives while also strengthening the fabric of our community. It's a win-win, filled with warmth and positivity.
